This project advances menstrual health, gender equity and climate action by distributing reusable sanitary pads and hosting sustainable wellness workshops for young women in Nigeria and Germany.

Progress

  • Formal engagement initiated with 3 public schools, 3 NGOs to ensure community-driven outreach, and with African Future Leaders (AFL) Germany to extend advocacy to university campuses and diasporan communities.
  • Local women trained in the production of eco-friendly, reusable pads to start their green micro-enterprises
  • Launched social media campaign, “Art for Change: Green Periods, Bright Futures”, to inspire creative youth advocacy for sustainable menstrual hygiene.

Highlights

We are addressing other related issues. Young girls in Nigeria need sanitary pads. They are expensive and without them can’t go to school for example.

Local women also source and make the pads, to a high quality. We use the UN specification and then a medical team inspected the pads.
