Alumni Voices: UK graduates, global influence
Alumni UK is the largest global network for international UK alumni, connecting people from around the world who have studied in the UK. Working with ACER UK, the British Council has designed a survey to collect data from members of Alumni UK. Round 2 of the study concluded in 2025.
Of the 3,094 alumni from 123 countries surveyed in year two, 95.8 per cent rated their UK experience positively at least six out of ten. 96.3 per cent of respondents scored the UK as having world leading universities.
More than 75 per cent of respondents had contacted or met someone from their UK study experience in the past year, indicating the long-lasting ties that are created for many graduates.
The report highlights the importance of international alumni as a valuable soft power asset for the UK. Researchers note that educational experiences foster long-lasting emotional and professional ties that extend far beyond graduation, with alumni going on to serve as authentic ambassadors for the UK, promoting education, tourism and cultural values through personal and professional networks.
Respondents reported that their UK education provided them many opportunities to build their social capital and develop meaningful personal and professional connections.
