International Skills Partnership in Employer Engagement and Staff Capacity Building with Uganda

The British Council is inviting suitably qualified UK further education colleges or training organisations to apply for the following opportunity.

The grant recipient will collaborate in an International Skills Partnership with peers in Uganda.

This is an excellent opportunity for a UK-based further education college or training organisation looking to build a network and capacity to work internationally. Successful applicants will be eligible for £30 000 of grant funding to support partnership activities (reciprocal visits to the UK and Uganda, staff time (limited to 30% of the grant), development of tools and resources, etc).

The selected UK-based skills organisation will partner with three TVET centres in Uganda and will collaborate with the Ugandan Ministry of Education as a key project stakeholder.  Partners will share expertise in the areas of employer engagement and staff capacity building. Potential sectors for collaboration are construction, electrical installation or automotive engineering, based on the interest and specialism of the UK college.

The British Council teams in the UK and in Uganda will provide ongoing advice and guidance throughout the partnership to help facilitate communication and deliver maximum benefit.

The project will run for a duration of 12 months from the end of September 2025.

The call for proposals is part of the British Council’s Going Global Partnerships programme which builds stronger, more inclusive, internationally connected higher education and TVET systems by supporting partnerships between universities, colleges, education policy makers, civil society organisations and industry partners around the world.
