1. Pre inspection briefing
This is an optional briefing session and costs £45. You can find out more information about it on the Inspection support page.
2. Accreditation UK Handbook
You can purchase a hard copy of the Accreditation UK Handbook for £10. You can order a copy by sending a cheque (payable to the British Council) for £10 to Audrey Rodgers, Accreditation Unit, British Council, Bridgewater House, 58 Whitworth Street, Manchester, M1 6BB.

2. Scrutiny fee
This covers the cost of checking your documentation and answering your queries. It costs £200.
3. Inspection costs
The duration of the inspection varies depending on the size of your ELT operation. Pages 9 to 10 of the Accreditation UK Handbook explain how long the inspection will take. A full fees sheet including example inspection costs is available at the bottom of the page.
State sector applicants should refer to this to estimate the costs of inspection.
Private sector applicants must pay these costs in advance.

4. Annual fee
Your annual fee is calculated according to the number of students studying for 10 hours or more per week multiplied by the number of weeks they study.
Here are some examples of the calculation:
10 students x 15 hours per week for 8 weeks. 10 x 8 = 80 student weeks.
5 students x 7 hours per week for 4 weeks = no student weeks.

Accreditation UK is a partnership between the British Council and English UK. Accredited centres who are members of English UK pay their annual fee through English UK and benefit from a £100 reduction. Visit the English UK website to find out how to become a member.

An additional £120 contribution to Student Emergency Support Fund will be invoiced with the Annual Fee.
The annual fee is payable from April each year but as a newly accredited ELT organisation you will be charged your first year’s fee pro rata to the number of months of accreditation.
