The British Council is inviting suitably qualified UK further education colleges or training organisations to apply for the following opportunity.

The grant recipient will collaborate in an International Skills Partnership with peers in Mauritius.

This is an excellent opportunity for a UK-based further education college or training organisation looking to build a network and capacity to work internationally. Successful applicants will be eligible for £30,000 of grant funding to support partnership activities (reciprocal visits to the UK and Mauritius, staff time (limited to 30% of the grant), development of tools and resources, etc).

The selected UK-based skills organisation will collaborate with San Gabriel Technical College, and engage trainers from two other local TVET Providers, MITD and Polytechnics Mauritius.

The partnership will:

  • Develop a new training course for entrants into the electric bus maintenance sector in partnership with the Mauritius partner, benchmarked to UK standards
  • Deliver training of a cohort of master trainers from partner college(s)

In addition, HBSC will fund the establishment of a fully equipped electric bus and infrastructure maintenance training workshop at partner college, San Gabriel Technical College, Port Louis.

UK partners will:

  • Provide technical expertise in EV maintenance curriculum design and trainer development
  • Support curriculum localisation and training design.
  • Co-deliver train-the-trainer workshops with San Gabriel Technical College
  • Advise on quality assurance and UK accreditation pathways
  • Share best practices in green transport skills development.

The British Council teams in the UK and in Mauritius will provide ongoing advice and guidance throughout the partnership to help facilitate communication and deliver maximum benefit.

The project will run for a duration of 12 months from December 2025.

The call for proposals is part of the British Council’s Going Global Partnerships programme which builds stronger, more inclusive, internationally connected higher education and TVET systems by supporting partnerships between universities, colleges, education policy makers, civil society organisations and industry partners around the world.
