The database of UK knowledge trained counsellors lists all the agents and counsellors who have successfully passed the assessments within the UK knowledge agent and counsellor training and confirmed an understanding of the national code of ethical practice for UK education agents.
Education agents and counsellors on this database receive a digital certificate and a 'I am a UK knowledge trained counsellor' badge to evidence that they have completed the course, which are both valid for two years.
Please note that a certificate of completion for the training can only be applied to an individual rather than a whole organisation or business, and that the British Council does not formally endorse, accredit or validate agents and counsellors. It only awards agents and counsellors a digital certificate and badge for their knowledge and awareness of the UK as a study destination.
The database enables education providers, students and students’ parents to check their chosen agent or counsellor is trained. The fully searchable database can be filtered by country, city, agency or school name. Please note:
- International students should follow the student and parent guide to choosing an education agent.
- Education providers should follow guidance set out in the Agent Quality Framework and seek appropriate legal advice when contracting agents and counsellors.
