Climate Connection Hive

Since COP29 in Baku, Azerbiajan, we have been working with a group of young researchers on the Climate Connection Hive – a campaign that advocates for better green skills training globally. The campaign trained 25 young researchers from 15 countries to design and deliver their own global research into green skills including interviews, youth diaries and a global survey.

Full report coming soon...

The research conducted by our youth researchers will be brought together in a report, Skills for an Inclusive Transition: Youth realities and green opportunity pathways. This report will offer insights into learning to earning pathways and present recommendations to help bridge the gap between climate-related skills and green job opportunities.

Stay tuned for the full report, which will be published on the Research and Insight pages of our website in June 2026.

In the meantime, see a summary of the findings in our Report Brief (link at the bottom of the webpage) and hear from our youth researchers as they prepared for COP30.

Background

The Climate Connection Hive campaign builds on the British Council’s Global Youth Letter, where over 8,000 young people urged leaders at COP26 to support youth calls for climate action. An additional 23,000 young people added their voice as part of the 8,000 Rising Campaign.

Our research revealed that, while young people are eager to lead climate efforts, they often lack the resources, training, and networks needed to do so. In response, British Council has developed programmes such as Climate Skills to equip young people with essential life skills to enable them to take local action and access the green economy. To achieve a truly fair transition we must connect local initiatives to global movements, as young people express a strong desire to connect with peers worldwide.

Together, we’ll help advocate for green skills initiatives that include not only technical training but also soft skills such as critical thinking, communication, and adaptability.

Be part of the journey.
