Next Generation Vietnam is published at a time when this vibrant economy – one of the fastest growing in the world – is emerging from its experience with COVID-19.
The country has been held up as a success story in its response to the pandemic. But prior to that, it was already in the midst of major change, showing the impact of the social and economic policies introduced in the 1980s.
What does this mean for the youth of Vietnam?
In the latest of our Next Generation series, we explore what effect such changes are having on young people and the way they imagine their futures.
Covering subjects such as education, employment, digital engagement and international outlook, the research shares the aspirations and concerns of young people from across the country, and how they intend to shape a better future.

About Next Generation
Next Generation is a global research programme initiated in countries experiencing a period of significant change, with the purpose of ensuring that young people’s voices are heard and their interests properly represented in decisions that will have lasting implications for their lives.
The research projects examine young people’s views around education, employment and lifestyle, as well as uncovering their hopes and fears for their country, their degree of international engagement and views on the wider world, and the values and beliefs that affect their lives.
