The British Council’s Future of English programme has embarked on a two-phase project to develop a framework that highlights the potential financial benefits of a country’s investment in its English language learning infrastructure.

The first phase investigates the language-in-education policy landscape from six stakeholder perspectives in Mexico, Saudi Arabia and Viet Nam. These stakeholders include those involved in developing and implementing these policies as well insights from young adults aged 18 to 23 and employers across a number of sectors.

The Economic Value of English: Mexico research is the first in a series. The report explores perceptions, policy alignment and the role of English alongside languages and technologies, highlighting implications across national contexts with a focus on Mexico.

This report will be of particular interest to those interested in the Mexican education system, global conversations on language-in-education policy, teachers and teacher educators and those keen to bring closer integration between our education systems and the world of work.
