The Artificial Intelligence Research team conducts the research behind the AI models that underpin the learning and assessment products at the British Council. We investigate, develop, and evaluate innovative approaches in Artificial Intelligence and Natural Language Processing to ensure our products are reliable, fair, and effective for learners and educators worldwide.
Working closely with colleagues across the organisation and with partners in academia, government and industry, we turn research into practical solutions for teaching, learning and assessment. Our work focuses on solving real-world challenges in language education, advancing the capabilities of AI-enabled products and promoting the responsible use of AI in educational contexts.
Through rigorous research, publication and collaboration, we contribute to the wider AI and NLP community and help shape the British Council’s thought leadership agenda. In doing so, we support the development of innovative and responsible technologies that serve learners, educators and institutions around the world.
