The British Council and Formula 1 are working together to inspire the next generation and open up a world of future career opportunities.

Our international education programme, Learning Sectors, supports young people to develop the knowledge, skills, and passion for a career in science, technology, engineering and maths (STEM).

The Learning Sectors programme has worked with young people in over 700 schools in the UK, Brazil, India and South Africa throughout 2025. Learners take part in a range of science and technology activities to develop practical skills for future careers.

An exciting new oracy component is being added to the programme this year which is designed to strengthen young people’s presentation and communication skills through engaging, media-inspired learning and activities focused on broadcasting and media, including inspiration from careers connected to Formula 1.

Young people are experiencing STEM in action through the experts at Formula 1, sharing insights from the world of sport and encourage learners to consider the careers it can offer.

Working as a team is integral to success within Formula 1, so Learning Sectors teaches young participants to work collectively across groups and borders by matching the schools in the UK with a partner in India and Spain and inviting the learners to collaborate. Technology and innovation also drive F1, so in Brazil, schools have been taking part in a coding challenge to get students excited about coding and develop their skills.
