World Food Day 2025 marks the 80th anniversary of the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) — a milestone that underlines the importance of global collaboration to achieve sustainable food systems and ensure food security for future generations. 

To commemorate this occasion, the British Council Digital Library—present in more than 30 countries with over 120,000 members—invites you to a special online panel discussion: “Building a Food-Secure Future.” This event explores how food, culture, and community can shape sustainable futures.

Speakers & moderator

Asma Khan: Celebrated British chef and author of Monsoon. She will speak on food as a force for empowerment and cultural connection, sharing insights from her culinary journey.

Shaun Kenworthy: Internationally recognized chef who brings a global perspective on innovation, sustainability, and food systems. 

Moderator: Abdi Hassan Country Director, British Council Romania and Bulgaria.
