Two people in a discussion

This funding is available for partnerships from cohorts 1-4 of the UK-Ukraine School Partnerships programme.

A grant of up to £5,000 is available for school to facilitate further interaction between you and your Ukrainian partner school.  The monies must be spent in a way that demonstrates that students from both the UK and Ukraine have benefitted. This is a great opportunity for whole school/community engagement in the project in addition to developing and cementing your partnership.

Key points

  • Only schools that have been partnered through the UK-Ukraine programme are eligible to apply.
  • The maximum grant per partnership is £5,000.
  • The deadline for applications is 1 July 2026.
  •  Decisions will be communicated as quickly as possible.
  • Planned activities should take place between 1 September 2026 and 1 July 2027 inclusive.
  • Grant money can only be disbursed to the UK partner school in GBP.
  • The grant can be used for travel of teachers and or students from either UK or Ukraine (or both).
  • If a reciprocal visit is not possible then mobility can be in either direction or to a third location.
  • The grant can be used to purchase resources to complete a joint project.
  • Funds cannot be spent on entrance fees to tourist attractions or capital equipment such as laptops, mobile phones.
  • Funds can be used to aid with passport/visa costs for young people where their participation would only be possible with this support.
  • There will be a two-step reporting process.  An interim report will be due after three months and a final report and financial reconciliation will be required by the 1 July 2027 deadline.

Examples of ways the grant could be utilised:

  • £5,000 grant – 10 students from Ukraine and 10 students from UK meet in Poland (or another third country), accommodated at a Ukrainian boarding school for 2-3 nights and work on a joint project together.  The grant can be used towards travel, accommodation, passports and visas for the students and teachers to meet. Alternatively, students could travel to their respective partner school if it is logistically possible to do so.
  • £1,500 grant – a teacher from UK and a teacher from Ukraine meet in a third country to develop future plans together.
  • £500-1,000 grant – possibility to purchase books or resources for a joint project together, and/or conduct a workshop where partner school joins virtually.

These are just a few examples of how the money could be used and I am sure there are many other ways you could find to work together and develop the partnership further.
