About the project
WeAlmaty is a three-year initiative that aims to help the city of Almaty to realise its 2020 development vision around culture, business and active citizenship by supporting local authority leaders to work with civil society. It supports new forms of cooperation, skills development and joint action between civil society organisations, local authorities and the private sector, particularly social enterprises, to strengthen civic engagement, build shared understandings of changes that are happening in Almaty, and to support social innovations that can help improve economic and social outcomes for people living in Almaty city.
Launched in April 2017, WeAlmaty will end its activities on the 31st of March, 2020 and will report to the European Commission at the end of May 2020. The project’s target audiences include universities, creative and social entrepreneurs, local government, policy makers, the private sector and Almaty residents. Particular emphasis is placed on young people and women.
About the role
The consultant will measure the impact of the WeAlmaty project from the perspective of the partners, stakeholders, facilitators and wider audiences we have worked with. The consultant will evaluate the project to assess the extent to which it has met its objectives and intended results and to evaluate whether the deliverables were achieved. S/he will also identify areas of success and learning in the project that could be developed further and taken forward as a legacy of the WeAlmaty project.
Qualifications and experience required
- a minimum of two years of working experience in the area of civic engagement, civil society development
- relevant experience in monitoring and evaluation research
- good analytical and report writing skills
- good communication and interpersonal skills
Desirable
- previous experience of working in Kazakhstan or the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) and/or understanding of the local context.
