About the project

The Ministry of Education (MoE) and the British Council in France have been partners in teacher education for over twenty years. It is due to a combination of this partnership and the ambition of the Ministry to further enhance internationalisation in schools that the MoE have approached the British Council to support capacity building for teachers in 2018-19 and to provide quality professional development training to their teachers in the Ile de France (Educational zone C), which consists of Creteil and Versailles school networks. 

About the role

The British Council France is seeking a reputable teacher training partner for 190 primary and 25 secondary teachers; to design, deliver and monitor a five-day face-to-face Continuous Professional Development (CPD) programmes focused on CLIL to primary and secondary state school teachers in the Paris suburbs in Creteil (120 teachers in total) and Versailles (95 teachers in total) area. Creteil require their training in the French Zone C school holidays and Versailles require their training in the academic year.

 Due to the timing & logistics this role will require a lead consultant and a team of up to three or four qualified and experienced CLIL teacher training experts, who are able to deliver to demanding intensive schedules, with up to four weeks in ‘residence’ in Ile de France before, during and after the winter holidays (Feb/March) and up to two weeks in ‘residence’ during the Ile de France term time around mid-May.

N.B. It is important to understand that these dates are not yet 100% confirmed and they will be confirmed by the MoE in the forthcoming weeks. 

The British Council will have a Technical /Academic lead and a Project Manager to act as liaison between schools and consultants. 

Travel, accommodation and a subsistence allowance for meals will be provided to trainers for the duration of the training.

Qualifications and experience required

  • Lead Consultant / Project lead requires a suitable post-graduate qualification related to Teacher Education and proven project management skills: Essential 
  • Teacher trainers require a Cambridge CELTA / DELTA /or Trinity Cert TESOL or Diploma or equivalent: Essential 

Experience

Essential 

Proven track record of design and delivery of teacher development programmes in CLIL

Track record in monitoring & evaluating change in education systems

 Desirable

  • Experience of supporting systematic change in education systems
  • Knowledge of the French Education System or willingness to learn
  • Awareness of the British Councils’ approach to teacher CPD
