About

Over 60 students, academics and policy makers from six Chinese universities and representatives from industry are visiting the UK to attend the Creative Animation Knowledge Exchange (C.A.K.E) Festival at Edge Hill University, with a week-long cultural visit to follow the festival.

The C.A.K.E. 2014 event has been developed as part of an ongoing British Council initiative involving Edge Hill University and the Chinese International Cartoon & Animation Festival (CICAF).

Aims and objectives

The objective of the C.A.K.E festival is to nurture long-term relationships between UK and Chinese animation industry and education sectors.  Specific focus has been on developing links within the Hangzhou region, the centre of animation production and education in China. This event continues to support the ambition to form new collaborations, commissions and enterprise.

A week-long cultural visit will follow the festival, in order to facilitate discussions between students, policy makers, practitioners, and higher education professionals in animation education, from China and the UK. This collaborative project aims to build up long-term and sustainable partnerships at various levels and in different formats among government, HEIs and industry in both countries.
