British Council response to THE 100 under 50 Rankings

In response to the publication of The Times Higher Education 100 under 50 2014 rankings, Dr Jo Beall, the British Council's Director of Education and Society, said

"These rankings demonstrate that the UK's considerable investment in new universities some fifty years ago has paid great dividends. We can anticipate that the high levels of investment in UK research today will have similar effects on impactful research and development going forward. Much research is linked with industry and the strong UK industry links with teaching and graduate employability  are also a powerful draw for students internationally.

“But just as our reputation attracts, it's important that the UK's students and researchers look to internationalise their experience. These rankings show the excellent opportunities in emerging economies, for individuals and institutions to partner and build hopefully life-long links."
