Role overview

About the project

 

The consultancy will seek to analyse the bibliography, methodology, tools, techniques and good practices together with the English specialists of the Peruvian Ministry of Education (MoE) in order to design the Initial Teacher Education Curriculum: rationale, approaches, didactics , learning outcomes and assessment of English as an area in the foundation studies of the curriculum of Initial Teacher Education and the foundation and professional studies of the curriculum of Initial English Teacher Education. Also, it will see the role of ICT in the teaching and learning of English as a foreign language in Initial Teacher Education. 

 

About the role

The consultant will work closely with the Peruvian MoE to deliver a 40-hour face-to-face workshop (five days) to twenty MoE specialists on agreed dates in November or beginning of December, provide 32 hours of online assistance to specialists in the elaboration of the different components of the teacher education curriculum. Outcomes must be delivered by the end of January 2019.

 

Expected outcomes

  • Delivery of 40-hour face-to-face workshop to English specialists of the MoE.
  • 32 hours of online assistance to English specialists of the MoE.
  • List of competencies for English as an area in the foundation studies of the curriculum of Initial Teacher Education.
  • Proposal for the mainstreaming of the English area in the foundation studies of the curriculum of Initial Teacher Education.
  • Proposal for the assessment of English as a foreign language in Initial Teacher Education.
  • Proposal for the study plan of Initial English Teacher Education
  • Proposal for the rationale of the curriculum of English Teacher Education.
  • Proposal for the didactic in the curriculum of English Teacher Education.
  • Proposal for the assessment in the curriculum of English Teacher Education.
  • Proposal for the learning outcomes of the curriculum of English Teacher Education.

Note: Fee of £6,000.00 (six thousand GBP) which include, flight ticket, accommodation, meals, transport, preparation and delivery of workshop and online support.

 

Qualifications and experience required

Essential Qualifications

  • Degree in either Education, English Language Teaching (ELT), Applied linguistics, Social studies or Language arts 
  • Native speaker of English or C2 level in the Common European Framework of Reference

Essential Experience

  • Three years as Teacher trainer
  • Participation in the development or design of the Initial Teacher Education Curriculum in countries with similar context to Peru 
  • Done research / papers in ELT

Desirable Experience

  • Worked with Ministries of Education 
  • Familiar with Exploratory Action research in ELT
