Consultancy description
In our work overseas, the British Council requires consultants for a wide range of projects. We are currently seeking consultants experienced in delivering technical assistance for international development projects to be part of our growing database of experts.
British Council colleagues use the database to search and build a list of suitable consultants for a specific project and regular alerts, targeted by sector, are sent to members of the database with details of upcoming consultancy opportunities.
We require international long-term consultants to act as team leaders and other key experts in the areas of:
- Civil society
- Governance
- Justice and security
- Women & girls empowerment
- Education (primary, secondary and higher education)
- English for development and English Language Teaching (ELT)
- Skills and employability (labour market, and vocational education and training)
- Culture for development
- Social enterprise
Key requirements
Precise requirements will vary with the scope and duration of individual projects. All appointments are subject to contracts being awarded to the British Council via competitive tendering exercises.
Interested candidates should have the following qualifications, skills and professional experience:
- a minimum of five years’ international consultancy experience in international technical assistance projects working in one or more of the above areas (national experience will be considered for the area of skills and employability)
- a relevant university degree or postgraduate qualification (master’s degrees also desirable, and may be essential for some opportunities); in the absence of a university degree, equivalent professional work experience of more than 15 years in the related areas will be considered
- at least ten years of professional work experience
- project management skills and a proven ability to work as part of a team
- excellent command of spoken and written English.
Experience of working on projects for one or more of our key clients (DFID, the EU, the World Bank, AusAID, USAID and the Asian Development Bank) is also highly desirable.
