Role overview

About the project

The English and Digital for Girls’ Education (EDGE) programme aims to improve the life prospects of adolescent girls in socio-economically marginalised communities in Bangladesh, India and Nepal. The programme focuses on enhancing participants’ English proficiency, digital skills and awareness of social issues. As a result, they will be better able to make more informed and independent life choices and contribute more fully to the family, the economy and society. In addition, EDGE aims to improve the leadership skills of a smaller group of peer leaders drawn from the same communities of adolescent girls.

About the role

The current peer led course materials for EDGE are being delivered in hard copy format. As the course develops digital literacy and the distribution of hard copy materials at scale is both time consuming and expensive, there is a need for a digital course delivery solution, with both online and offline capability.

For this project, a learning management system (or suitable alternative) will be procured from a UK vendor. In addition to this,15 hours of content will be developed to be piloted and delivered via this LMS.  Based on the results of the pilot, there is potential to develop this course for the whole 330 hours of content.

The purpose of this consultancy is to develop the content to be delivered through this LMS. This will require significant re-deign of existing face to face content.  An editor will also be hired to assist with the quality assurance and constancy of content.

Deliverables

  • 15 hours of content in agreed storyboard format, adapted from the hard copy version of the course, including the design/ adaptation of the digital component of the materials.  Digital content must be in line with the ethos of EDGE peer led learning methodology, be easy to navigate, engaging and interactive.
  • A user testing plan for 10 EDGE clubs in India, the pilot will be carried out by British Council staff on the ground who will require to be briefed in advance.
  • Incorporating changes as a result of user testing.

There is also potential to extend this contract to build the provided storyboards in SCORM or equivalent depending on other details in the project.

Number of days:  Estimate 15 days in total
*The IP of all the materials will remain with the British Council.
