Student Fellowships

Please note that this strand of activity will not be formally available after 31 March 2010. Students aged 16-18 can carry out an individual research “fellowship” project at their partner school in France, Spain or Germany. Students are assigned a mentor teacher in the school and are hosted by a family for two weeks. Participants must be in school year 12 or 13 at the time of their visit. The topic of their project could tie in with their A/S or A2 coursework to give it an authentic edge.

School Linking Visits

Teachers and headteachers from primary, secondary, and special schools, sixth form and further education colleges in England and Wales can apply for funding to undertake short visits to a partner school in any country to set up a curriculum based partnership or develop an existing link.

Teachers’ Professional Development

Staff can apply to spend 1-2 weeks in a school in any country across Europe to jobshadow a colleague in a school. Opportunities such as these provide teachers of languages the opportunity to explore another educational context, exchange ideas and best practice, and refresh or improve their own language skills and cultural knowledge to transmit back in the classroom.
