Local authority staff can play a fundamental role in guiding schools to get involved in the international dimension – not only individual schools but whole clusters of schools from within an authority with an equivalent region overseas.

Many authorities may be fortunate enough to have a dedicated International Links Coordinator who will provide support for schools and liaise with them and the British Council on promoting internationalism and the range of opportunities available. If this is not the case, the British Council has a Regional Professional Development Network in place that that exist in 10 regions right across England who can provide local support. Find out more.

The Global Gateway has a whole zone dedicated to local authority staff in helping them get schools more involved in the international dimension.

For the countries that we work with, we offer support and a range of funded programmes that local authority representatives can access.
