School Linking Visits
Funding opportunities to visit your partner school

BENEFITS

  • you can develop a better understanding of the structure and organisation of your partner school
  • meeting face-to-face provides a solid base for the development of a joint curriculum partnership
  • you can share best practice.

What funding is available?
Funding is available for teachers and headteachers to undertake short visits to a partner school in any country to set up a curriculum based partnership or develop an existing link.

Travel, board and lodging costs can be funded. The maximum grant per person for a visit within Europe is £500. Higher travel costs to a maximum of £1000 for visits further afield can be considered.

Who can apply
Teachers and headteachers from primary, secondary, and special schools, sixth form and further education colleges in England and Wales. Information specific to Welsh applicants is available here .

When should I apply?

The deadlines for Area linking and School linking applications from English schools and Local Authorities will be Monday 20th September 2010. Applications must be for visits to take place before 1 April 2011.

How do I apply?

Please make sure you read the complete guidelines carefully before applying. The application form must be typed on a computer, not hand-written. Please email all completed documents to: world.links@britishcouncil.org and send a hard copy with original signatures to: World Links, Programmes & Projects, British Council 10 Spring Gardens, London SW1A 2BN
