Joint Curriculum Projects
Work on a collaborative project with your partner school

Funding is available for schools to take part in collaborative projects with their Chinese partner in a range of subjects, including sport, art and music. An excellent way to enrich the international dimension in the curriculum, the grant can be used for travel, accommodation and related project costs as well as electronic links.

Grant available: up to £5,000 per year.

Who can apply?
Primary, secondary and special schools in England, as well as colleges of further education, with a partner school in China. Schools can apply jointly with a neighbouring school if the nature of the project lends itself to inter-school co-operation.

What are the project guidelnes?

Projects should be innovative and creative with a clear programme of collaborative work with your partner school
Projects should ensure regular and necessary communication takes place between pupils and staff from both schools, and work towards a concrete collaborative outcome
Activities should be based clearly within the curriculum, to the mutual benefit of the curricula of both participating institutions and to involve the maximum number of students, whether or not they are involved in any mobility
Pupil mobility is desireable but not compulsory for projects with China. Any pupil mobility to partner school, however, must be for a minimum of 10 pupils for a working project visit (minimum 3 nights for applications from primary and special schools, 5 nights for applications from secondary schools and FE colleges). At least 50% of the project visit must be based in school, with pupils engaged in collaborative working.
Projects should aim to have a wide impact within the school and local community with potential for long term sustainability.
All applications must be written collaboratively with your partner.

Please take the time to download and read carefully the complete set of guidelines and examples of successful projects before completing your application form.

The application form  must be typed on a computer, not hand-written, and once printed sent by post to the World Links Team at the British Council.
