Joint curriculum projects
Linking the UK and France

“The Anglo-French JCP has provided a vital link for the school to encourage and vitalize learning about other cultures and languages. By working jointly with a school from the partner country, pupils’ confidence and self-esteem increased while teachers developed professionally.” - Tollgate Primary School

If your school is interested in applying for funding to undertake a curriculum project with your French partner school we would like to hear from you. This page gives you advice on who can apply, project guidelines, the availability of funding and how to apply.

Who can apply?
We are only able to accept applications from primary / secondary state schools and sixth form colleges in England which have an established partnership with a school in France. Schools can apply jointly with a neighbouring school if the nature of the project lends itself to inter-school co-operation.

What are the project guidelines?

Projects should be innovative, creative and involve joint activities with the French school while being fully embedded into the curricula of both schools.
Projects should ensure regular and necessary communication takes place between pupils and staff from both schools, and work towards a concrete collaborative outcome
Projects must include a visit to the partner country. Activities undertaken during the visit should be strictly linked to the project. Minimum stay is of three nights for primary schools; and of five nights for secondary schools.
Projects should aim to have a wide impact within the school and local community and should show an element of partnership sustainability.
All applications must be written collaboratively with your partner.

Please take the time to download and read carefully the complete set of guidelines examples of successful projects that have already been undertaken through this scheme and a checklist to help you elaborate a joint project proposal.

Funding for projects is unlikely to be greater than £4000 for your school. Please note that the grant only covers the costs incurred by the English school does not cover preparatory visits / risk assessment visits. French schools must enquire at the office of their DAREIC at the local académie for funding (max €5000).

How do I apply?
Please make sure you read the complete guidelines carefully before applying. The application form should be printed, completed and returned to us by post.
