The Charles de Gaulle Bursary was founded by Lady Soames. The scheme allows participants to spend four weeks in France or the UK to work on a project that you have devised yourself. Projects can relate to any aspect of the French or English language and culture and do not have to be comparative studies. Bursaries, up to the value of £1000, are available to enable you to carry out your project or programme of study.
We welcome applications from students aged 17 to 19, provided that you are not over the age of 19 by the end of September. You must have a good level of French (for UK students) or English (for French students) and all applications should be accompanied by a detailed work plan outlining activities for the duration of the visit.
The deadline for applications is 31st January each year and you can expect to be called to interview in March. If you make a successful application, you will need to complete your project by the following September.
