Update on British Council in Tunisia

18 January 2011

Following the ongoing security situation in Tunisia the British Council has taken the decision to suspend its work, and close its office and English language teaching centre in Tunis for the safety of our staff and customers.

All non-essential staff UK appointed staff have been evacuated. We are in close contact with our local staff who at present are safe and well.

We are monitoring the situation closely on an ongoing basis and hope to resume operations as soon as it is safe to do so.

The British Council has been operating in Tunisia since 1962, providing English language teaching, administering UK exams, delivering collaborative arts projects between the UK and Tunisia and connecting young people in both countries through our Connecting Classrooms project.
