'Chocolate & Chips' is an eTwinning project promoting healthy lifestyles in a European context.
The project is based around 'healthy living' and has been designed for the young infant classes of Cauldeen Primary in Scotland and our partner school Dun Guzepp Zerafa in Malta. We are exchanging class lessons and pedagogy between teaching staff and activities, digital video, digital photos and presentations and emails between pupils.
The pupils have used still digital photos and short digital video clips to record and share activities, language lessons and communicate between classes. Powerpoint Presentations, scanned pictures and email communications have all been involved in this project. The very young age of the children involved (4 and 5 year olds) has meant that they have been supported in the use of the technologies by staff.
The pupils had great fun and enjoyment while learning about a high priority curriculum area of 'Health'. The pupils really enjoyed interacting with their younger colleagues in our partner school in Malta and were excited learning some of their language as well as the similarities and differences of our foods. The teachers exchanged pedagogy and activity ideas, sharing lessons and exchanging information on classroom ideas.
"This project was very well structured with good supporting evidence. A model project write-up!"
"An excellent project, illustrating how eTwinning can provide a focus for real learning, whole school involvement, increased awareness of Europe, increased ICT skills, and curricular enhancement."
"This is what eTwinning is about. The class activities could not have taken place and certainly not to the motivating level they did, without the use of varied ICT and the provision of an audience (the partner school)."
