Head Teacher, Church Aston Infant School |
 |
I am a head teacher of a small infant school in Telford & Wrekin LA. My specialisms include ICT for learning. My school has been a SLICT host school in the past and holds the Becta ICT Mark. Our curriculum is broad, very rich and creative. Staff are innovative and use action research to evaluate the impact of what we do. Our pupils are all introduced to another language and learn French during curriculum time. We have pupils in the Early Years Foundation stage and are keen to ensure the curriculum offered is appropriate to the needs of these young pupils. Our school is set in a semi-rural setting. It is very small and so we always have to teach to mixed age groups. I am a trained mentor for Initial Teacher Training. Tools I use for eTwinning include digital media - Photo story, Movie Maker and Apple applications. I am confident using both Apple Mac and PC applications. In addition I make use of email, The Twin Space, and for contact with teachers (not pupils) Facebook and NING. Our school has a website and is developing the Learning Platform linked to the website. We plan to develop the use of Pod casting this year. |

eTwinning is the ideal way to find partners from across Europe. As a linguist, eTwinning has provided an excellent opportunity for my pupils to get to know and work with native speakers. eTwinning has alos provided us with opportunities to work on cross-curricular international projects as well. Running an international link through ICT has meant that our pupils have been able to work with and have regular contact with pupils from across Europe. They have felt that they really got to know other pupils involved in our projects without the expense and time our of lessons of a more traditional exchange. Blogs, Wikis, Podcasting, ISA. |

I am an assistant head of a primary school located in East London with over 450 pupils. Over the last four years, we have won many awards and became a model for other primary schools to use etwinning creatively in their existing curriculum. I have run many events and workshops for Newham and other neighbouring boroughs and been invited to many events as a speaker. I would be willing to help schools to promote etwinning and offer practical advice through case studies. |

I am leader of French at Nodehill Middle School on the Isle of Wight. The French department received an outstanding report from Ofsted in 2005 deeming the provision of French as ‘excellent’. I am passionate about integrating ICT practically and effectively into language lessons.I speak at various national conferences such as The Language Show, BETT and ALL’s Language World. I write a blog for The Times Educational Supplement and author the ICT update section of the Languages-ICT website created by BECTA, CILT and ALL. I am the Deputy Head of a large secondary Special School in Hertfordhire and a fervent advocate of the benefits of ICT in helping teachers teach and pupils learn. The opportunities that European Links offer pupils in term of real-life learning through ICT are amazing. My School has been involved in a number of successful European and International Projects and were awarded the eTwinning Quality Label as well as being runners up in this year’s Annual eTwinning Awards. I also coordinate and support the use of the flashmeeting video conferencing tool for eTwinning school partnerships. |

When our Comenius project finished we wanted to continue to develop our links with other Eco Schools in Europe. eTwinning provided the necessary tools for us to do this. We quickly found Eco School partners in Portugal and Italy and we began a project called Eco Food we created a blog and posted regular items on it. eTwinning is an excellent resource to bring Europe into your classroom and create real-life experiences to pupils. Our pupils love links with other schools, you can make your projects as big or small as you like. We envisage each class in our school carrying out an eTwinning project and we will build this into our curriculum. eTwinning is extremely flexible and I would certainly recommend any teacher giving it a try! |

eTwinning is an ideal way to investigate how to develop International Education in your class. In Scotland especially, Curriculum for Excellence allows teachers some flexibility in how they deliver their International Education- and eTwinning is the perfect way to do it. Children are always open to new ways of learning- and they often know how to do things intuitively. Making international links through ICT allows children to use tools they are already familiar with, in a new and exciting way. This brings your school great credibility. I have particular experience in using blogs, and video conferencing tools such as FlashMeeting. I have developed a number of small and large scale projects since becoming involved in eTwinning in 2007. I can offer advice and support if necessary to those teachers who wish to embark on a variety of types of projects relating to the primary curriculum. |

My background is Science/Chemistry but my present educational focus is ICT and e-learning. Engaging with eTwinning has provided a vehicle for exploring the use of these pedagogical approaches in improving learning for students in an international context. A multimedia science project with an Italian school and a podcasting project with schools in Reunion Island, Italy and Spain have been recognised as as successful examples of eTwinning. |

The eTwinning portal provides a secure central point to communicate, collaborate and share during the process of a European partnership. The portal is not just for established partnerships, it is also a way to locate and connect with European partners. The main benefits of linking children with their international peers outweigh the non-connected classroom. An authentic audience, an understanding and appreciation of other cultures, learning from one another, breaking the barriers down of the classroom walls and preparing our children for their globalised futures. My specialist area is ICT in education through a vast array of social media tools to engage and connect children. One of my main focuses is using tools that enable children to create, collaborate and connect through the use of the voice. Other tools are ones that enable true collaborations where everyone is involved in the learning process. Finally, handheld learning through the use of iPhones, iTouches, iPads and response systems are at the heart of my pedagogy. I also engage with the pedagogy behind collaborative practice, motivation for learning, 21st century learning and pupil engagement. |

eTwinning gives schools a fantastic, real-life reason for using all those exciting multimedia tools that used to seem so daunting! Video, animations, sound recordings, simple emails, collaborative Web 2.0 applications...they all come to life as part of an etwinning project, where children and teachers have a genuine audience, and get responses and feedback too. My first eTwinning project ,supporting one of our local schools and a school in Spain, won the 2008 European prize for eTwinnning for their age group! The project also won an award from the UK government (MadeITHappen competition). The project was subsequently highlighted by OFSTED in the school’s inspection. The school continues to develop etwinning partnerships which contribute towards an International School Award. I have supported schools using ICT across the curriculum for many years. I use a wide variety of ICT tools. I have a particular interests in creativity, art and also esafety. (I am a leader for esafety in education in North Tyneside, a CEOP esafety ambassador and a member of the CEOP Education Advisory Board). |

eTwinning is one of the easiest way to begin international partnerships and it can pave the way to developing Comenius links and other funded partnerships. This is also a great way for schools starting out on participating in the International Schools award. Although I support schools rather than work in a school, I have seen many partnerships develop. I have seen students involved in partnership projects much more interested and engaged knowing that they are linking with real people from a different country. I also see the increased motivation from teachers, particularly when they learn new ICT tools and realise how they can be used to enrich their projects. As part of the eTwinning teacher team, I can give support on all aspects of using the etwinning portal. I also have a great deal of experience in using webconferencing (Elluminate) for live collaborative working. I can also help with the use of many Web2 tools such as googledocs, vokis, slideshare, wikispaces and blogs. |

Because of the wealth of great resources it provides as well as an array of easy to use tools which greatly aid working with partner schools. Quality Labels can also be achieved and provide recognition of good work. We have achieved Quality Labels, European Quality Labels, Language Awards and the ISA.The school is now recognised as a frontrunner in International Education. I have been asked to present at both Glasgow and Strathclyde Universities, showcased for LTS and presented at a Head Teachers meeting. I use Skype and Flash Meeting to communicate with partners. I have achieved the International School Award.I also received the European Award for Languages 2009 from CILT. |
