I am always happy to support colleagues starting out in eTwinning and will gladly take part in workshops, contribute a case study about what we have done and how we did it, visit schools or simply be on the end of an e mail.

Anne Garner
I am a head teacher of a small infant school in Telford & Wrekin LA. My specialisms include ICT for learning. My school has been a SLICT host school in the past and holds the Becta ICT Mark. Our curriculum is broad, very rich and creative. Staff are innovative and use action research to evaluate the impact of what we do. Our pupils are all introduced to another language and learn French during curriculum time. We have pupils in the Early Years Foundation stage and are keen to ensure the curriculum offered is appropriate to the needs of these young pupils. Our school is set in a semi-rural setting. It is very small and so we always have to teach to mixed age groups. I am a trained mentor for Initial Teacher Training. Tools I use for eTwinning include digital media - Photo story, Movie Maker and Apple applications. I am confident using both Apple Mac and PC applications. In addition I make use of email, The Twin Space, and for contact with teachers (not pupils) Facebook and NING. Our school has a website and is developing the Learning Platform linked to the website. We plan to develop the use of Pod casting this year.

Bob Knight
Bob Knight I am the Headteacher of a medium sized primary and nursery school in Southend on Sea in sunny Essex. My school is actively developing the International Dimension of the curriculum and has formed links with schools in a variety of ways. Currently we have links with China, India, France and Norway. The latter two links have been formed and enhanced through the use of eTwinning. Most of our linking work is via email or through the “Twinspace”.

Brenda Bigland
Brenda Bigland I am the Headteacher at Lent Rise Combined School, a large primary school near to Slough, Berkshire. Our school has been actively involved in eTwinning since the beginning, and now every class is eTwinned with another country. We are a good practice case study for Wider Community Cohesion for the Department for Children Schools and Families, and therefore can talk with some conviction on how Internationalism can support standards.

Cathy McKirdy
eTwinning logo I have been involved with etwinning for 2 years now.  I have had 2 very successful projects with schools in Paris and Stockholm which are still on going.

Deborah Conway-Read
Deborah Conway-Read I work at a primary pupil referral unit, with a maximum of 6 pupils on any one day. At first we felt a bit dubious that we could sustain a link with a partner school, but we managed so well last year that we are doing another project with the same school this year, and linking with two more partners on the same project, one of whom I found during my visit to the Estonia PDW. Also, out of that workshop came another link with an Estonian teacher, and we are going to work on a separate project with the youngest children.

I am a primary teacher, so cover all areas of the curriculum in my teaching.  So far with the projects I have been involved in, we have used mainly PowerPoint, but hope to include blogs as the projects develop.

George Glass

As Headteacher at Cauldeen Primary School I am actively involved in supporting eTwinning, the creative use of ICT to support linking, and International Education.

My school is currently twinning with two schools in France; one in Nice and one in Le Val St Pere. The first is a project called fairy tales and legends in Europe, which we hoping to make a Comenius project, and the other is called sharing Europe. We are also currently aiming to twin with a school in Egypt too.

The projects are all multi-media and the children are all extremely excited about making contact with other children around the world and practising their IT and language skills in real situations. What could be greater than that?

Iclal Lawerence
Iclal Lawrence I am an assistant head of a primary school located in East London with over 450 pupils. Over the last four years, we have won many awards and became a model for other primary schools to use etwinning creatively in their existing curriculum.  I have run many events and workshops for Newham and other neighbouring boroughs and been invited to many events as a speaker. I would be willing to help schools to promote etwinning  and offer practical advice through case studies.

We are currently in our 4th year of e-twinning.  Our original partner is a small school similar to ours, in Spain.  We have had basic projects, “Our pets”; “Ourselves and our homes” that have been useful for developing Spanish and ICT skills. Then my partner teacher moved to a bigger school so I stayed with him as we got on really well.  Our next project was “Periodistas/ Journalists”.  The children exchanged news stories. It was really good for developing ICT skills, literacy and Spanish.

This year - we have a 3rd partner, in Poland, and a new project “Abrazo – Our Virtual City”.  We’re creating a map combining photos and information about buildings in our home areas.  We’re really excited about it!

Jo Rhys-Jones
Jo Rhys-Jones I retrained for Primary in 2004 after ten years in Secondary MFL. I share a whole KS2 class with the Headteacher in a tiny Primary school. We introduced French in 2004 and we also have 'taster' half-term units in the summer, so far in German and Spanish. We have worked with two French schools in the conventional sense - exchanging materials via 'snail mail'. eTwinning is probably going to be the way forward for us though - it is much more immediate.

When our Comenius project finished we wanted to continue to develop our links with other Eco Schools in Europe.  eTwinning provided the necessary tools for us to do this.  We quickly found Eco School partners in Portugal and Italy and we began a project called Eco Food we created a blog and posted regular items on it.

eTwinning is an excellent resource to bring Europe into your classroom and create real-life experiences to pupils.  Our pupils love links with other schools, you can make your projects as big or small as you like. We envisage each class in our school carrying out an eTwinning project and we will build this into our curriculum.  eTwinning is extremely flexible and I would certainly recommend any teacher giving it a try!

Lisa Stevens
Lisa Stevens I originally trained as a secondary MFL teacher and am now working in PLL. I work in two schools - at Whitehouse Common Primary School I'm PLL coordinator and eTwinning coordinator (on two days/week!!) We've just completed an eTwinning project with Cp César Hurtado Delicado in Valverde de Leganés for which we received an eTwinning Quality Label  and runner up in eTwinning awards. I also work with LEA as Trainer for PLL and with local RSGs.

Lisa Taner
Lisa Taner From an early eTwinning workshop began my own journey towards the long-standing International links that Bowes now has, including Comenius and a funded DFID Global Schools partnership with Ghana.
I have set up and run several eTwinning projects including Send My Friend to School- a project that involved children learning about the Global Campaign for Education. Schools across Europe participated along with our partner schools in Uganda and Ghana. This was the second of 2 UK eTwinning award winners.
I am particularly interested in helping teachers get a Global Dimension in their eTwinning projects.

Michael Purves
Michael Purves I am a Primary School Teacher in East Lothian. I became involved with eTwinning in May 2007 and since then have formed a very successful partnership with a Finnish School. We have just received the eTwinning Quality Label for our ongoing project work (‘A Healthy Passport’). I have set up various successful blog projects with schools in Finland, Denmark and France in the past. I'm currently working with Finland, Denmark, Iceland, Norway. I'm happy to help in any way with blogging issues, how to set up links etc.I’ve also trained as an International Masterclasser with Learning Teaching Scotland and have been involved with project work in this context.

Owain Richards
Owain Richards I am a headteacher of a large Primary school in Ipswich, Suffolk. I am also a Learning Together Ambassador promoting eTwinning and Comenius Projects in the Eastern Region. We have been eTwinning at our school for over 2 year and are about to start a Comenius Project. I personally feel that the benefits of European partnerships are that the whole school community can gain a real understanding of other countries traditions, cultures and customs while enhancing their skills within ICT. If you need any help – get in contact!

We made contact with a school in Holland through E Twinning. It is a really fast and reliable service. When you receive an e-mail you get an alert on your normal everyday e-mail service.

The Bonn Conference was absolutely fantastic and it was a real eye opener as to how E Twinning has involved so many countries and schools.  Through Global Gateway we also have a partner school in South Africa.  Last year our school won the Full International School Award.

Ruth Royce
Ruth Royce My background is Science/Chemistry but my present educational focus is ICT and e-learning. Engaging with eTwinning has provided a vehicle for exploring the use of these pedagogical approaches in improving learning for students in an international context. A multimedia science project with an Italian school and a podcasting project with schools in Reunion Island, Italy and Spain have been recognised as as successful examples of eTwinning.

Sarah Stead
Sarah Stead I am international and music co-ordinator at Adel Primary School and have just become a Learning Together Ambassador.  I have 5 children.  My hobbies are sport, music and languages.

Simon King
Simon King I am a Primary School Teacher in Hertfordshire and I am actively involved in two eTwinning projects involving schools in France, Spain and Hungary.  Experienced in using web conferencing systems such as Flashmeeting.

Steven Hales
steve hales I have been involved in a range of international project for over 20 years now. I am committed to simple but effective projects, which celebrate the similarities and differences between communities. Having been part of many Comenius projects, I am delighted to advocate eTwinning to colleagues, as it is offers a strong framework for projects. I was fortunate to gain a UK eTwinning Award in my previous school for ‘The Red Balloon’, which brought together schools in 11 countries. At Burnham Market, we have developed three projects with schools in Sweden and Spain. I am happy to share my experience.

We have completed a very successful calendar project with a school in Northern Spain in which we shared photos, music, sound bites and videos to give information about cultures and traditions. Our work was shared and stored on our Twinspace. We are in the process or registering the project again with schools in other countries.

We are also registered with a school in France and my pupils are learning French with a class of similar age French pupils. We are about to exchange some artwork through the post and pictures of the work are shared on the twinspace. We are hoping to be involved in video conferencing which is our next target.

Susie Arnott
Susie Arnott I am a Primary school teacher working as an Advisory Teacher for ICT in North Tyneside. I have supported schools using ICT across the curriculum for many years. I'm finding etwinning gives schools a fantastic, real-life reason for using all those exciting multimedia tools that used to seem so daunting! Video, animations, sound recordings, simple emails...they all come to life as part of an etwinning project, where children and teachers have a genuine audience, and get responses and feedback too.

Wilma Gordan
Wilma Gordon I am a primary teacher in West Lothian, Scotland. At present I teach ICT throughout the school. I have been involved in eTwinning with a school in Huriel, France. We have used a cross-cutting approach and have embraced subjects such as, technologies, language, MFL, social studies and citizenship. The technology used has been a mutual blog, e-mail, Skype/webcam, moviemaker, and Photoshop.
