For the innovative, creativity it brings to the whole curriculum. It is accessible, user friendly, well equipped with on line tools, high levels of support if needed. It helps deliver a number of government initiatives ECM ESD MFL and provides evidence for ISA applications. Best initiative to come along in a long time. The children have enjoyed project work with their peers across Europe sharing their experiences at home and in school. They have been highly motivated and interested. We have used our links to enrich the ethos and character of our school and in promotion and marketing. ISA, Eco Schools, National Curriculum Initiatives |

Head Teacher, Church Aston Infant School |
|
I am a head teacher of a small infant school in Telford & Wrekin LA. My specialisms include ICT for learning. My school has been a SLICT host school in the past and holds the Becta ICT Mark. Our curriculum is broad, very rich and creative. Staff are innovative and use action research to evaluate the impact of what we do. Our pupils are all introduced to another language and learn French during curriculum time. We have pupils in the Early Years Foundation stage and are keen to ensure the curriculum offered is appropriate to the needs of these young pupils. Our school is set in a semi-rural setting. It is very small and so we always have to teach to mixed age groups. I am a trained mentor for Initial Teacher Training. Tools I use for eTwinning include digital media - Photo story, Movie Maker and Apple applications. I am confident using both Apple Mac and PC applications. In addition I make use of email, The Twin Space, and for contact with teachers (not pupils) Facebook and NING. Our school has a website and is developing the Learning Platform linked to the website. We plan to develop the use of Pod casting this year. |

I would say that eTwinning brings Europe to your door and opens a new world of opportunity for collaboration in Learning. It has excited the curriculum for all our children and our staff and has been hugely supportive in bonding together our very diverse community as when collaboration also reflects the nature of your community it enhances respect for the individual and their background and encourages parents to participate in their children’s learning. It has encouraged all to see ICT as a tool for learning throughout the curriculum. It has helped to embed the use of ICT throughout the school and it has helped to forge stronger, faster reacting links with those we partner with. ICT has also allowed us to “see” for ourselves the partner nations environment and setting much more clearly as digital imagery, video footage, camera shots and musical recordings all help to bring each country to life for our students. This has also helped us to ensure that we need very little change when the New Primary Curriculum is introduced. Email, Video, Audio, Animation, Web & Video Conferencing. We hold the International Schools Award and do a lot of work across the UK on International Collaboration and Wider Community Cohesion. |

By registering with eTwinning, teachers are able to contact like-minded colleagues in EU countries to work on projects which broaden the horizons of the pupils who participate. Working on international projects has given teachers and pupils opportunities to learn and use ICT skills in a real context. PowerPoint, digital photgraphy, digital video; language skills – writing a script for a movie about the school to send to partners as well as writing stories and poems to put on a blog and eventually a book using an online site. Vokis and using them to teach each other a new language. Practising a foreign language through Video Conferencing andusing FlashMeeting. |

We are in our 2nd year of eTwinning. Our partner is a small school in Carcassonne in the South of France. We have run a couple of projects. “Weather Around the World” was an exchange of local weather data which was then used for the creation of graphs which were shared on the e-twinning space. We then did a project called “How Does Your Garden Grow?”. We exchanged seeds which both classes planted on the same day. We then blogged to each other about how our plants were growing. We also made photostories giving instructions in French for how to plant the seeds, as well as designing seed packets and making a model garden. We also exchanged old-fashioned letters and cards during the year! |

Assistant Head |

I am an assistant head of a primary school located in East London with over 450 pupils. Over the last four years, we have won many awards and became a model for other primary schools to use etwinning creatively in their existing curriculum. I have run many events and workshops for Newham and other neighbouring boroughs and been invited to many events as a speaker. I would be willing to help schools to promote etwinning and offer practical advice through case studies. |

We are currently in our 4th year of eTwinning. Our original partner is a small school similar to ours, in Spain. We have had basic projects, “Our pets”; “Ourselves and our homes” that have been useful for developing Spanish and ICT skills. Then my partner teacher moved to a bigger school so I stayed with him as we got on really well. Our next project was “Periodistas/ Journalists”. The children exchanged news stories. It was really good for developing ICT skills, literacy and Spanish. This year - we have a 3rd partner, in Poland, and a new project “Abrazo – Our Virtual City”. We’re creating a map combining photos and information about buildings in our home areas. We’re really excited about it! |

When our Comenius project finished we wanted to continue to develop our links with other Eco Schools in Europe. eTwinning provided the necessary tools for us to do this. We quickly found Eco School partners in Portugal and Italy and we began a project called Eco Food we created a blog and posted regular items on it. eTwinning is an excellent resource to bring Europe into your classroom and create real-life experiences to pupils. Our pupils love links with other schools, you can make your projects as big or small as you like. We envisage each class in our school carrying out an eTwinning project and we will build this into our curriculum. eTwinning is extremely flexible and I would certainly recommend any teacher giving it a try! |

eTwinning is an ideal way to investigate how to develop International Education in your class. In Scotland especially, Curriculum for Excellence allows teachers some flexibility in how they deliver their International Education- and eTwinning is the perfect way to do it. Children are always open to new ways of learning- and they often know how to do things intuitively. Making international links through ICT allows children to use tools they are already familiar with, in a new and exciting way. This brings your school great credibility. I have particular experience in using blogs, and video conferencing tools such as FlashMeeting. I have developed a number of small and large scale projects since becoming involved in eTwinning in 2007. I can offer advice and support if necessary to those teachers who wish to embark on a variety of types of projects relating to the primary curriculum. |

International links enhance the curriculum, providing a real focus for MFL teaching and broadening children’s knowledge and experience of Europe. The motivation of children and staff are increased. The children are able to link with their partners and use ICT creatively. He communication with their partners is used to inform the actual visit to their partners in Spain. Blogs are used for communication and sharing products, photos, video etc. We use etwinning as a tool for our Comenius project. Full ISA. We have used animation tools to create pieces of work for the project and shared them through etwinning and blogging. |

eTwinning has enabled all pupils and teachers to participate in an international project. The eTwinning network is easy to access, enabling partnerships to be formed and innovative projects to be developed. For teachers, it is a low-cost professional development opportunity, which reaps personal and pupil benefits. We have been able to use a range of ICT to develop exciting projects within the context of our curriculum. Pupils and teachers have motivated to be creative and become more global in their thinking. I have been delighted to receive 2 UK eTwinning Awards and European eTwinning Quality Awards for projects, ‘The Red Balloon’ and ‘Erik The Viking’. Each project has been relatively simple in concept but high in value of process and outcome. PowerPoint; PhotoStory; Skype; Use of the eTwinning website; The International School Award; Linking eTwinning to School Leadership and Management – SIDP, SEF, OFSTED, Community Cohesion |

eTwinning gives schools a fantastic, real-life reason for using all those exciting multimedia tools that used to seem so daunting! Video, animations, sound recordings, simple emails, collaborative Web 2.0 applications...they all come to life as part of an etwinning project, where children and teachers have a genuine audience, and get responses and feedback too. My first eTwinning project ,supporting one of our local schools and a school in Spain, won the 2008 European prize for etwinnning for their age group! The project also won an award from the UK government (MadeITHappen competition). The project was subsequently highlighted by OFSTED in the school’s inspection. The school continues to develop etwinning partnerships which contribute towards an International Schools Award. I have supported schools using ICT across the curriculum for many years. I use a wide variety of ICT tools. I have a particular interests in creativity, art and also esafety. (I am a leader for esafety in education in North Tyneside, a CEOP esafety ambassador and a member of the CEOP Education Advisory Board). |

Because of the wealth of great resources it provides as well as an array of easy to use tools which greatly aid working with partner schools. Quality Labels can also be achieved and provide recognition of good work. We have achieved Quality Labels, European Quality Labels, Language Awards and the ISA.The school is now recognised as a frontrunner in International Education. I have been asked to present at both Glasgow and Strathclyde Universities, showcased for LTS and presented at a Head Teachers meeting. I use Skype and Flash Meeting to communicate with partners. I have achieved the International School Award.I also received the European Award for Languages 2009 from CILT. |

eTwinning allows the world to be brought into the children’s classroom, and in my experiences it has provided children with an extensive knowledge and understanding of the world, whilst the element of fun has always been central to the children’s learning. - Communication is fast and efficient
- ICT lessons and projects have a ‘real life’ purpose to them
- Enthusiasm demonstrated by all
- Excitement
- Motivation to learn
- Supporting our application for the ISA
- Children are developing their photography skills!
I acknowledge the educational benefits of ingraining internationalism as part of children’s learning. When working for a school in Liverpool LA I led the school to achieve the full ISA. I have provided support to other schools with regards to this.I am now incorporating internationalism within my new role at a primary school in Knowsley. It is very exciting embarking upon this journey in such a dynamic learning environment. |
