Through policy dialogue, international partnerships and development of innovative approaches in skills and vocational education, we promote and support the UK skills sector. We also help to bring about sustainable change which supports global economic prosperity.
Skills for Employability addresses the demand for skills in a global economy. It aims to make national education and training systems better able to respond to labour market demands and learner needs. The programme focuses on building strong relationships with industry, employers, governments and training providers.
UKIERI plays a pivotal role in improving educational relations between India and the UK. It does so by enabling collaboration between institutions in the two countries, in particular in developing joint research. Alongside higher education links, it supports skills development. Building on early success, the programme is now set to run till 2016.
‘Widening Opportunities for Youth Employability’ is a British Council programme, aimed at enhancing young people’s skills and employability in Egypt and Tunisia. It started in June 2011 and is supported by the Foreign and Commonwealth Office’s Arab Partnership Programme.
