Welsh Language Project

What is it about?

Are you a Welsh teacher looking to work abroad? Would you like to help promote and develop Welsh language in Chubut, Patagonia?

You could take up teaching placements in the Welsh speaking communities in Patagonia and contribute to the expansion of the Welsh language outside the classroom by providing training and leadership in this beautiful part of the world. 

 

Where can I go?

Chubut province in Patagonia, Argentina.

 

What does it cost?

The costs of return flights, medical insurance and visa renewal fees will be covered by this project. In addition, a salary of £750 a month, £150 arrival allowance and £150 leaving allowance will be provided. Accommodation will be arranged by the local community in Patagonia. 

 

Am I eligible?

The programme is open to those with experience in teaching Welsh at primary, secondary levels or to adult learners.

 

What is the availability?

There are three Teaching or Menter Patagonia positions available in this year.

 

What is the application deadline?

The deadline for applications was 30 August for a placement next year; interviews take place in September/October.

Apply next summer for a chance to participate in 2015.

 

What about afterwards?

We encourage all participants to become ambassadors for this programme and engage in all the relevant promotional activities in order to share their knowledge and experience amongst their schools and prospective applicants.
