Artists' international development fund - closing soon!
What is it about?
Are you a freelance or self-employed artist based in England or Northern Ireland? The British Council helped fund and connect 36 individual schemes in 2013, and plans to do the same in 2014.
By providing you funding and support during the early stage of your project, this programme aims to help you build connections with other artists, organisations and/or creative producers in another country.
What funding is available for international projects?
Artists are able to apply for small grants (minimum of £1,000 and up to £5,000).
Am I eligible?
Are you an Individual artist, creative producer, curator or editor?
The programme is open to artists from any discipline:
- who have received recognition for their work
- who can demonstrate an interest in their work from an overseas partner/host
- who do not have extensive international experience
- whose work will benefit from launching better international networks - either artistically or in terms of developing an audience for their work.
Find out more about the eligibility criteria for the scheme in England.
What is the availability?
There were 26 grants in England and 12 grants in Northern Ireland awarded last year.
We are discussing parallel grant schemes with Arts Council Wales and Creative Scotland, which will be coming soon.
What is the deadline?
The next deadline for applications to the fund for artists based in England is 5pm Friday 4 October 2013.
The application dates for artists in Northern Ireland is now closed with expectations to re-open in April 2014. If you are an artist based in Northern Ireland you can stay in touch for updates.
Please note you can only apply to the Artists' international development programme once in any financial year.
