Common Threads Ages: 7–14
This innovative pack is based on a musical drama set in the 1950s which explores the themes of workers’ rights, and differences and similarities between two communities in the Caribbean and Wales. It includes a CD of songs and a workbook packed with creative ideas, though preparation is needed to adapt it into a scheme of work.

One Child, One Seed Ages: 5–7
This large-format counting book with clear, colourful photographs tells the story of how a pumpkin seed is looked after and grows into a pumpkin. The numbers 1 to 10 refer to the number of people or items on each page. There are detailed photographs and information about climate, crops, rivers, animals and food. The clarity and detail of the photos will prompt interest and help make some complex global issues more accessible to a young age group.
Water for All Ages 7–11
This free website includes activities on the theme of water, such as dams, war, health and hygiene, drought, tourism, trade and irrigation, for use in several subject areas. Teacher’s notes are set out in a logical series of lesson plans.
Live Differently Ages 7–14
A well-researched site focusing on themes such as migration, food, conflict and poverty, with maps, fact sheets, quizzes and case studies. Good for a scheme of work or last-minute planning.
