New Study Tour Brings Pakistan Skills for Employability Programme to Self-Sustainability

In partnership with the International Organisation of Labour, British Council organised a study tour on 15-20 July 2012 for a 11-member Senior Skills delegation from the Sindh and Punjab TEVTA (Technical Education and Vocational Training Authority) to the UK. Reputed TVET sector organisations like UK Sector Skills Council, its governing body UKCES, Skills Funding Agencies, National Apprenticeship Service England, Modern Apprenticeships Scotland, and Pro-Skills UK were involved in providing different kind of trainings and knowledge transfer programmes to the visitors.

As a result of this visit, a Letter of Intent was signed between STEVTA and IMPROVE, the UK Sector Skills Council for food and drinks sector, which entailed assistance to STEVTA to establish its own sector bodies to aid in setting up of competency based curricula and collection of labour market intelligence. The British Council willingly agreed to facilitate the process. The British Council through its Skills for Employability programme continues to bring reforms in TVET sector in Pakistan and change the lives of millions of Pakistani youth across the country including Azad Jammu and Kashmir.
