Yemen

With a different nature than most countries in the Gulf region, Yemen (also known as Arabia Felix), is at the crossroads of Africa and the Middle East. It’s location at the strait of Bab Almandab, gives Yemen the strategic location of the region.

With an economy that is lower than all Gulf countries and thus a high rate of unemployment, the Yemeni government in 2001 took a huge step in creating the Ministry of Technical Education and Vocational Training.

Since its establishment, the Ministry’s role and importance have increased dramatically due to the ever increasing need in both the unemployment rate and the job market. In other words, the country's definite need for skilled employees, establishes first-rate vocational training as a major development priority.

The aim now is to strengthen Yemen's vocational training system the local level through the involvement of the private sector in determining the type, level and content of the training to be provided.

Careers Guidance

The Ministry is working to ensure that potential TVET applications have full information about TVET institutions, levels of study, types of training and the training specialisations on offer.

The Ministry provides an online database for graduates which contains information about job opportunities in the private sector. This also enables the Ministry to gather feedback about new ways to develop the system and the curriculum.
