There are three training levels in vocational training. Students with an intermediate skill certificate can progress to diploma level if they study 1-2 years, depending on the programme.
The Vocational Training Law also provides incentives for gifted vocational trainees. It states that: “The award-winners of the first, second or third prize in national skills competitions shall be automatically admitted to colleges or vocational colleges to study in the programmes relevant to their prize-winning vocation, if they are upper secondary graduates or intermediate level graduates. The award-winners of the first, second or third prize in international skills competitions shall be automatically admitted to universities to study in the majors relevant to their prize-winning vocation if they are upper secondary graduates or intermediate level graduates.”
In the near future, vocational training students will be able to progress to higher education. At present, MOLISA and the Ministry of Education and Training are working together to draft regulations to allow people with intermediate level and diploma level qualifications to progress to higher education.
