introduction
Social trends - United Arab Emirates
The United Arab Emirates (UAE) were formed in 1971, and consist of Abu Dhabi, Ajman, Dubai, Fujairah, Ras al-Khaimah, Sharjah and Umm al-Quwain.  Since the federation was established,  the seven emirates have forged a distinct national identity through consolidation of their federal status and enjoy an enviable degree of political stability.

The UAE's political system, a unique combination of the traditional and the modern, has underpinned this political success, enabling the country to develop a modern administrative structure while ensuring that the best traditions are maintained, adapted and preserved.

Diversification

UAE is working to reduce its dependence on energy revenues and encourage investments into other areas of the industry. Non-oil sectors such as finance, aviation, IT, tourism, retail, real estate, construction, telecommunications and hospitality are booming and currently contributing to the nation's GDP.

With a combination of multinational, global and local organisations operating in the UAE , as well as an influx of labour from around the world, the country is experiencing strong economic expansion, an increase in employment opportunities and vibrant business activities.
