Tunisia

The Tunisian government has made it a priority to reform the national vocational training system since the early 1990s.

In that time the main steps towards reform have included the establishment of the Ministry of Vocational Training and Employment (MFPE) in 1990 (now the Ministry of Education and Training – MEF). Also the introduction of compulsory basic education and transferring training policy responsibilities to the MFPE in 199.

In 1993 Tunisia passed laws on vocational training, which established a national vocational training system with a network of four specialist government agencies launching a national strategy to reform vocational training and employment, known as MANFORME (Mise à Niveau de la Formation et de l’Emploi).
