CAREERS GUIDANCE

In his Budget Vote Speech on 26 May 2011, Higher Education and Training Minister Dr Blade Nzimande made mention of the national NQF and Career Advice Services that is under the auspices of SAQA.

Clients are able to access information on the National Qualifications Framework (NQF) and career advice from the website, through a career advice helpline, via email, SMS, FAX, and also through social networking media such as Facebook and Twitter.

There are also guidance materials that have been developed to assist those who have NQF and career advice questions. In an effort to reach those in hard-to-reach places, a weekly radio programme is produced in partnership with SABC Education. This programme is broadcast on nine regional radio stations in nine languages. These programmes reach about 2.3 million South Africans.

Careers guidance is offered by most colleges for their students, at various levels of quality.
