In December 2011, the British Council ran a major UK study tour for relevant professionals and policy makers who are interested in learning about the UK quality assurance system. Twenty one delegates from Algeria; Brazil; Egypt; Tunisia; South Africa; and Uzbekistan joined the tour including senior officials from education ministries, government departments and other key agencies.
The tour included presentations on the tools, systems, good practice, achievements and challenges for quality assurance of TVET, particularly in England from a range of organisations that are closely involved in quality assurance in the UK. Delegates were able to observe quality assurance in action on visits to colleges and a large multi-national company that provides in-house training for its staff. Critically, the tour also provided an opportunity for delegates to exchange information about their own international strategies and experiences
At the end of the tour, delegate groups provided an evaluation of the various topics that had been covered during the event and set out priorities for how policy and practice in each country might be reviewed or developed. The British Council is looking at ways in which to provide future networking and collaboration opportunities across international partners.
