UAE Advisory Forum on Employer Engagement, 2013
Sixth in a series of regular forums, this one in particular addressed the theme of employer engagement in the United Arab Emirates. The forum aimed to bring together employers, education providers and regulatory bodies on a single platform to share knowledge, best practices and explore opportunities for collaboration.
Going Global 2013 offered sponsors and exhibitors the opportunity to increase their profile with leaders in international education while they debate to what extent internationalisation affects nations, communities and cultures around the world.
UK Seminar Series 2012-13:
Quality assurance in technical and vocational education, 18–22 February 2013, London. The seminar provided delegates with a detailed insight into the UK’s approach to quality assurance in technical and vocational education and useful models for those involved in national educational reform.
Employer engagement and apprenticeships seminar, 3-7 December 2012, London. The seminar, developed in partnership with the National Apprenticeship Service, explored key priorities and challenges in engaging with employers.
Skills for Employability 5th Advisory Forum in UAE took a place on 14 October 2012 in Abu Dhabi. Considering previous feedbacks from last forums, the theme of the meeting focused on introducing ’Matrix standard’ and ‘Career Guidance’.
A study tour to the UK for Senior Skills delegation from the Sindh and Punjab Technical Education and Vocational Training Authority was organised by British Council in partnership with the International Organisation of Labour. As a result of this visit, a Letter of Intent was signed aiming to aid the setting up of competency based curricula and collection of labour market intelligence.

The UK team has come away from the world’s largest and most spectacular skills competition with an admirable total of 24 medals, including 4 golds.
