Egypt’s Enterprise Award Challenge winners helping to build a brighter future

This year, the British Council in Egypt challenged the nation’s young people to develop a successful business idea that would also bring about positive changes to their community.  The environmental themed Enterprise Award Challenge was launched in partnership with INJAZ Egypt, which helps young people to prepare for professional life, and the Egyptian Technical Colleges Project (ETCP) early February 2012.  Six technical institutes in five different governorates across Egypt, took up the challenge to set up a company to create products that help solve Egypt’s environmental problems.

The competitors presented their ideas a month later at the Safir Hotel, Cairo and, after much deliberation, the panel of judges selected a winner – the Shobra Technical Institute in Cairo. The team’s winning an idea was to produce gas fuel from the organic wastes of animals.

Mr. Sherif Amer, Programme Presenter, Al Hayat TV Channel, described the idea as ‘very creative and serving the community. The team has worked together harmoniously and this was clear from their attractive presentation.’
