Skills around the World: Pakistan

The National Vocational and Technical Education Commission (NAVTEC) and the Technical Education and Vocational Training Authority, Punjab (TEVTA) are working in partnership with the British Council and the Japan International Co-operation Agency (JICA) to revise the existing curricula in four priority sectors: construction, engineering, textiles, and tourism and hospitality.

Five colleges in Pakistan have been twinned with UK technical colleges with the help of the British Council, while JICA has created links between Japanese colleges and three colleges in Pakistan. This also includes one college partnership under our Foreign and Commonwealth Office Mirpur project - a Full Cost Recovery project having Skills for Employability as one of its strands.

Once the curriculum is developed, these colleges will be given the status of Centre of Vocational Excellence.
