Skills around the World: Morocco

The Inter-Professional Groupings Assistance Council (GIAC) oversees the training needs of various SME sector organisations in Morocco. However, individual organisations have to identify new training options and evaluate the courses on offer.

Three employer organisations sit on the national committees for vocational training:

The Moroccan Association of Textile and Clothing Industries (Association marocaine des industries du textile et de l’habillement - AMITH)
The Federation of Mechanical Engineering, Metallurgy, Electrical and Electronic Industries (Fédération des industries mécaniques, métallurgiques, électriques et électroniques - FIMME)
The General Confederation of Moroccan Enterprises (Confédération générale des entreprises du Maroc - CGEM).

AMITH is exerting pressure on the government on behalf of the textile and clothing sector to define a professional sector policy comprising of more appropriate training programmes and leading to qualifications and diplomas that are related to labour market requirements.
