Significant progress has been made in the reform of education in Kazakhstan since independence in 1991 and the beginning of the transition to a market economy.

The Ministry of Education and Science is currently implementing a variety of measures in order to raise standards in Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET), including improving technical education institutions.
