Skills around the World: Jordan

The National Agenda has provided the basis for action by proposing a new governance system and indicating the need to shift from a supply-driven to a demand-driven technical vocational education and training (TVET) system. It restructures the institutional framework and establishes The Human Resource Development Council, under the Chairmanship of the Prime Minister.

The Education Council and Higher Education Council come under its umbrella, along with the Employment, Technical and Vocational Education and Training (E-TVET) Council, run by the Ministry of Labour.

The E-TVET Council replaces the existing TVET Council and will take a holistic approach to developing a policy for the E-TVET sector. It will focus on: setting general policies related to E-TVET in Jordan; coordinating TVET stakeholders; and reducing unemployment rates.
