Skills around the World: Jordan

One of the main components of the education strategy involves encouraging co-operation with the private sector by:

Developing training programmes, occupational tests and standards of classification of work places.
Improving the training and professionalism of trainers in the workplace.
Encouraging the private sector to set up vocational centres, either alone or in conjunction with the public sector.
Making the most of training opportunities available to the public and private sector from international organisations and agencies.
Exchanging expertise and consultations.

Occupational standards

The Centre for Human Resource Development created the Arab sectoral and occupational classification system and technical vocational education and training (TVET) indicators (in collaboration with European Training Foundation, ETF). The occupational standards were developed using DACUM (Developing a Curriculum) methodology with help from Deutsche Gesellschaft fűr Technische Zusammenarbeit (GTZ). The Ministry of Education is also working with ETF to produce indicators for vocational education and training (VET).
