Bangladesh

The government in Bangladesh is taking steps to improve the country’s Technical Vocational Education and Training (TVET) system. Strengths of the current set-up include several comparatively good quality public training institutions, and the increased flexibility of Technical Training Colleges and Vocational Training Institutions.

However, the system remains under-financed and suffers from a lack of capacity. Other major challenges include a lack of links between training and employers, the numbers of young people excluded from the school system, and ineffective training support and delivery.

The Directorate of Technical Education (DTE) is responsible for TVET policy, while the Bangladesh Technical Education Board (BTEB) is responsible for accreditation and certification.
