Curriculum Development
Skills around the World

The vocational education curriculum integrates general education and vocational skills content.

The National Curriculum and Textbook Board (NCTB) is responsible for modifying and developing the curriculum at primary, secondary and higher secondary levels. The Bangladesh Technical Education Board (BTEB) also plays a role in curriculum development, as it administers examinations and awards all certificates and diplomas.

Some of the major deficiencies in curriculum development in Bangladesh have included:

A lack of professional expertise in the development of the modern curriculum
The lack of a solid research base providing assessment information about the curriculum and the areas needing revision
Insufficient curriculum emphasis on competencies such as understanding, comprehension and application.
